Early Season
Generally speaking, most archery season begin early in the year when most bucks
are still in bachelor groups, feeding and traveling together, and paying little
attention to does. The does will still be with their fawns and overall, deer are
feeding heavily in order to prepare for the upcoming winter. This is the perfect
time of year to use deer attractants; both natural and those that arouse curiosity.
Tink's Natural Attraction
Simulates a new food source in the area and raises the attention of both bucks and
does. Natural Attraction can be used at scrapes, on Super Draggers or in Tink’s
Scent Bombs and is effective all season including the late season.
Tink's #1 Doe-P
Doe urine puts deer at ease and is a great cover scent. Tink’s #1 Doe-P is 100%
natural doe urine.
Tink’s Trophy Buck
Trophy Buck Lure is 100% natural rutting buck urine that is collected from dominant bucks and reinforced with tarsal gland and interdigital (eye) gland secretions. This rutting odor of a buck induces a territorial challenge in other bucks and prompts them to seek out the unfamiliar buck. Trophy Buck is an excellent curiosity scent for the early season, but can also be used when rattling or grunting tactics are incorporated into the hunt. During the early season when bucks often travel in bachelor groups, they quickly notice any odor from an “outside” buck. Likewise, during the pre-rut, if they come across this odor in or around scrapes or rubs they naturally want to seek out the buck that left the odor behind to learn more about the buck, including his dominant status.
Tink’s Salad Dressin'
Tink's new Salad Dressin' attractant makes any vegetation palatable to deer thanks to a Honeysuckle blend that deer can't resist. The special formula draws deer into shooting range for over a week thanks to a spray that crystallizes on foliage around your hunting area. This will create feeding patterns in areas deer normally don't travel. It is like having a "food plot" in a bottle.
Tink’s Hot Shot™ Sweet Weed Food
With a super sweet smell that aggressively attracts bucks and does and stimulates a deer’s appetite, Sweet Weed Food delivers a powerful fine mist for long range attraction. And with a quieter spray, deer won’t be spooked. The 3.oz can of Hot Shot Sweet Weed Food can even be sprayed at an angle or upside down.
Tink’s Magnetics Buck Attractant
Magnetics Buck Attractant is effective all season and is designed to work on a buck’s 3 key senses: dominance, reproductive, and curiosity. It contains compounds only a deer can smell and creates a “magnetic-like” attraction to the area. Natural blends will not have this effect. Available in a 1 oz. bottle and can be used with a Scent Bomb or Stretch Wick.
Tink’s Power Scrape
Tink’s Power Scrape® is a synthetic buck lure designed to be used during the entire season. Power Scrape® can be used on natural or mock scrapes and is powerful enough to condition deer to frequently return to the location it is used; preferably next to your stand setup. Power Scrape’s revolutionary formula works by exploiting a buck’s curiosity in the early season as well as their drive for territorial dominance during the breeding season. Used one to two weeks prior to the season opening, Power Scrape will condition bucks that otherwise would not be seen to frequent your area. Start by creating 2-3 mock scrapes at your hunting stand locations and apply Power Scrape directly on the scrape and the ground around the scrape. Additionally, at least once a week throughout the rest of the season, reapply with each hunt. Power Scrape is naturally reactivated by moisture and is available in liquid (16 oz. bottle) or gel (4 oz. bottle).
Hot Shot™ Power Buck Synthetic Buck
Tink’s Power Buck has stood the test of time and is best used to stimulate aggression in other bucks in your hunting area. The aggressive behavior is a result of competition for breeding rights. Tink’s Power Buck can be used all season long and is great for creating mock scrapes or “doctoring” existing scrapes. Either way, the area bucks will be fooled into thinking an intruder buck has moved into the area. The formula is also moisture reactivated and is available in a new spray system. The Hot Shot spray system comes with an internal bag that separates the urine from the pressurizing agent so there is no contamination. This system allows the entire product to be dispensed more quietly while spraying longer than traditional spray cans and can even be sprayed at any angle; including upside down. The powerful fine mist formula is ideal for long range attraction.
Tink’s Hot Shot™ #1 Doe-P® Non-Estrous
When the rut is months away and you need a little attraction, look for Tink's #1 Doe-P Non-Estrus Buck Lure. It is 100% natural doe urine collected from live whitetail does and is perfect for early season use when non-rut formulas work best. Available in a new Hot Shot Spray System that delivers the product more quietly while spraying longer than traditional spray cans and can even be sprayed at any angle; including upside down. The powerful fine mist formula is ideal for long range attraction.
Pre Rut
The Pre-Rut is normally identified by rubs and scrapes that suddenly show up in
the deer woods. This is also the time of year when bucks begin sparring with one
another in order to establish herd dominance. However, this time frame is not the
same for all hunters as the Pre-Rut will vary from region to region. Look for sign
post markings from bucks, like scrapes under overhanging branches, buck rubs on
trees or a bucks scent-checking for receptive does in order to determine the status
of the rut in your area.
Tink's Trophy Buck
Trophy Buck Lure is 100% natural rutting buck urine that is collected from dominant
bucks and reinforced with tarsal gland and interdigital (eye) gland secretions.
This rutting odor of a buck induces a territorial challenge in other bucks and prompts
them to seek out the unfamiliar buck. Trophy Buck is an excellent curiosity scent
for the early season, but can also be used when rattling or grunting tactics are
incorporated into the hunt. During the early season when bucks often travel in bachelor
groups, they quickly notice any odor from an “outside” buck. Likewise, during the
pre-rut, if they come across this odor in or around scrapes or rubs they naturally
want to seek out the buck that left the odor behind to learn more about the buck,
including his dominant status.
Tink's #69 Doe-In-Rut
Often times, as the pre-rut draws near, a scent such as the Tink’s #69 can be deadly
effective. Perhaps the most well-known rut lure, Tink’s #69 can also be used during
the later stages of the pre-rut; just before does come into estrus. Remember, if
the scrapes in your hunting area are no longer being worked by bucks (leaves in
them) or you see a buck chasing a doe, then you will know that the pre-rut is coming
to an end and the Rut is about to begin. This is the perfect time to put out some
Tink’s #69 Doe-In-Rut Buck Lure.
Rut
The Rut is best described as the time when bucks are no longer tending scrapes but
are instead searching every acre of the woods in search of a receptive doe. Bucks
often let their guards down and are very prone to making mistakes they otherwise
would not make. In other words they become killable. This is absolutely the best
time to not only see a big whitetail buck, but it is the best time to lure one into
shooting range with Rut-specific scents and drag lines.
Tink's #69 Doe-In-Rut
Tink's #69 Doe-In-Rut® Buck Lure is 100% is the most recognizable buck attractant
on the market. It is a natural doe estrous urine collected from live whitetail does
during their estrous cycle. And thanks to Tink's quality controlled formula, Tink's
#69 Doe-In-Rut® Buck Lure is delivered to customers at the peak level of performance.
Best used during the pre-rut and rut, Tink's #69 Doe-In-Rut® Buck Lure can be applied
to anything from drag rags, boot pads, scrapes, twigs and branches or in Tink’s
Scent Bomb containers. This deadly formula is available in liquid and gel formulas,
as well as the all-new Hot Shot Mist format.
Tink's Trophy Buck
During this time period buck focus is finding a doe to breed. Apply both Tink’s
#69 and Tink’s Trophy Buck Urine to a drag rag and walk to your stand. This will
simulate a buck following a doe in estrous.
Tink's Super Lure
Another great rut lure, Tink’s Super Lure is made from 100% natural doe estrous.
However, what sets this lure apart from others is the strength of the odor that
it produces. Stronger than any other scent on the market, Tink’s Super Lure is provides
a Stronger down range smell which gets deer's attention faster than other weaker
brands. Use it at scrapes, on drag rags or in Tink's Scent Bombs. It comes in an
easy to use, 1 oz. squirt top bottle.
Post Rut
The Post-Rut is arguably the toughest time to harvest a trophy buck. The deer are
on high-alert from the previous months of hunting pressure. Buck are physically
“run down” from the stresses of the rut; battling over breeding rights of the area
does. During this time period bucks will naturally go back to feeding patterns and
also resting as much as possible to prepare for the winter months ahead. Food and
rest are the priority. In some areas a “second” rut will be noticeable.
Tink's #69 Doe-In-Rut
If you are experiencing a second rut in your area then Tink’s #69 Doe-In-Rut can be effective once again.
Tink's #1 Doe-P
If a second rut is not evident in your area then any non-estrous deer lure (like
Tink’s #1 Doe-P) can be used. As mentioned before, during this time of year the
deer will be seeking food and rest so consider some of the food-based “curiosity
scents that were used during the early season months such as Tink’s Salad Dressin
and Hot Shot™ Sweet Weed Food.
Deer lures are tools that hunters can use to gain an advantage when hunting.
Lures are used not only to attract deer, but also by bow hunters to get deer to
stop for a good quartering away shot. Deer react to lures in a variety of ways,
from immediate attraction to cautious approach. There are many factors that affect
how deer react to lures, including hunting pressure, the rut, buck to doe ration,
and the deer population in a specific hunting area.
Some hunters think that a deer lure is not working unless the deer sticks his nose into the bottle. This is not true. Some deer will come to the lure, but stop when they get to it in order to investigate the area. You just never know how deer will react, so you must be ready to take your shot at any time. My advice to hunters who ask when the best time is to take a shot is “the first shot you get.”

Always wear rubber boots when possible. If you wear leather boots, always use a
boot pad or drag rag with Tink’s Red Fox-P to help cover your tracks.
When bowhunting and using deer lure, always place your lure in an area where you
can shoot and at a shot distance that is comfortable for you.
When hunting a deer trail, place the scent on the up-wind side of the deer trail.
Scent must blow across the trail so deer can smell it.
If you see deer going down wind of your hunting location, start to squirt deer lure
with the wind. You want the lure to mix with your scent; hopefully this will confuse
the deer enough not to spook.
Use Tink’s Scent bombs when using cover scent and deer lures. Tink’s Scent Bombs
can be hung to get more scent into the air and bowhunters can use the orange container
as a yardage marker.
In windy, cold or wet weather try using a gel lure like Tink’s # 69 Doe-In-Rut Gel.
Gel works better under these conditions. Wind does not dry out or freeze gel as
fast. Gel will last longer in the rain.
Remember a deer’s nose is its #1 defense. You can have the best lure in the world,
even a real doe, but if he smells you he’s gone. Deer lures can and do work but
please keep in mind they are not magic; nothing beats good old fashion scouting.
Always use one of Tink's B-Tech Odor Elimination products to reduce and eliminate
human scent. Use before and during your hunt. Mist clothing and the inside and outside
of your hunting hat.
